Studio City Sportsmen’s Lodge Wedding: James + Doree

On November 5th, 2011, I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful couple at a historic lodge in Studio City. The Sportmen’s Lodge played host to James and Doree’s wedding. Guests traveled from all across Los Angeles for the special occasion and were able to enjoy a beautiful celebration uniting two people in James and Doree. The lodge provided some unique spots to take pictures and has one of my favorite staircases of all time!!! Stacie and I had a blast with them a week before when we shot their engagement pictures. You can see that post here. Please enjoy the images below.

Greek Theater Engagement Session: James + Doree

A few weeks ago, I got a call from the incredibly talented Megan Finley! She has been swamped with her new job as associate publisher at Offbeat Bride and needed me to fill in for a November 5th wedding:)I was happy to take over but knew it was going to be crunch time. I met Doree and James this past Sunday at the Greek Theater for their engagement session.  That’s right, just 6 days before the Big Day! We managed to get a few good shots, go over last minute details for the wedding, and enjoy all the crazy people watching at the Greek. Below are a few images……look for their Sportsmen’s Lodge Wedding post in two weeks:) I will be out of town next week attending Pictage Partnercon in San Diego, investing in the business and looking for cool new ways to serve you guys, as well as networking with my good friend and mentor Tim Halberg.

megan - OMG! How cute are they!??? I’m so excited for you to be their photographer — already such amazing pictures. Thanks again for being my go-to guy. I knew you’d rock it. The one of Doree lying on James on the bench just made my heart go all melty. ;)

Wrightwood Guest Ranch Wedding: Brandon + Sarah

Venue: Wrightwood Guest Ranch

Shoes: Toms Wedding Collection

Dress: Alfred Angelo Collection

DJ: Altic DJ’s

Cake/Cupcakes: Cake-a-Mania

Catering: Los Michoacanos Catering Service

Located in a pine covered valley in the San Gabriel Mountains, Wrightwood Guest Ranch provided the amazing backdrop for Brandon & Sarah’s wedding day. The crisp mountain air made you want to snuggle close to your partner. The autumn leaves painted the canvas for the beautiful landscaping. Love was definitely in the air! My wife and I have known Sarah for quite some time, she’s family:)We have enjoyed watching her grow and develop over the past few years. So you can imagine how thrilled we were when she started dating Brandon.

Brandon is one of the genuinely good guys who has got a smile that can melt a girl’s heart. He has got a great personality and often jokes about the amount of time it takes to style his hair:)(he’s bald). I really enjoyed getting to know him when we shot their engagement shoot in Bakersfield. We found that we both share a love for Newcastle (The beer, not the city in north east England).  We made sure to get a shot of one at the wedding!

The entire wedding flowed beautifully. The reception was a blast as the kids took over the dance floor to bust out all the latest dance moves. A few gentleman also got out there to show the young ones how to really groove and there were plenty of women to laugh at all the goofy guys! The Wrightwood Guest Ranch also plays host to zip lining tours. My goal is to get a shot of the bride & groom here next time we are visiting:)  Please enjoy the images below.

Bakersfield Family Portrait Session: Newfield Family

About a month ago, I had the privilege of shooting an amazing family. They were such sincere people, full of laughter and a joy to be around. They are also very photogenic, which is always a plus in my line of work:). Meet the Newfield family!  Josh and Tara have two lovely children, Sophie and George. Tara contacted me after she found out I was a photographer from my biggest fan; my lovely wife. They were in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) together and Stacie couldn’t say enough good things about Tara. The family made my job easy that day. They had a beautiful location to shoot at, adorable kids, and great smiles. Not to mention, grandma and grandpa were along to ensure unlimited smiles from Sophie and George:)  Take a look below and check back next week for an unusual, but fun shoot that I will be posting about. Any guesses? Hint: involves horses, guns, and Flying M Ranch!

Meet George

And here is Sophie:)

And here is the adorable dog!

The whole family

See you all next week. Feel free to comment below, we love hearing from you!

CSUF Graduation Session: Kim Peterson

Independent. Vivacious. Thoughtful. Creative. Determined. Integrity…….. The list could go on and on but this is how I would begin to describe Kim Peterson. So here is the deal, I met Kim after she started dating one of my closest friends and Pepperdine roommate, Adam Mcarthur. It seems like forever ago now but she really blew me away with how incredibly thoughtful she was.  Kim has spent a few weekends with my family at our river house and is such a joy to have around. Although BEWARE, she can get quite feisty when playing Nertz. When Kim asked me to do some graduation photos, I was thrilled. We spent an hour or so on the CSUF campus and snagged the following shots. Congratulations KIM! You are awesome and this is a huge accomplishment.  (BTW – love the TOM’s. Can’t wait to get the whole family a pair)
